Iron Man DVD

After viewing the Iron Man DVD I have had a few more thoughts.

When Tony Stark comes back from the middle east he walks off the back
end of a military transport plane. Why does a multi-billionaire with his own
jet fly back on a military plane? Was it a public relations stunt to have him
photographed coming off the back of a C130?

And he asks for a cheeseburger, so they run by the Burger King for a quick
snack from the USA. A obvious product placement.

On my version of the DVD there were a few deleted scenes included in the extras.

There was an extended version of the attack on the convoy.
Rhodey gets knocked out. The violence is a little more intense.
Another scene is a PG-13 version of the flight over to the arms demo on Stark’s party plane. It is a more adult version with the women pairing off with Tony Stark and Rhodey. With the family appeal of Iron Man and the young children coming to see it, I am glad the more family friendly version was used in the theatrical release.

There is also a party at his house in Dubai that he used as a cover to be in the middle east. He sets up a tryst between him and and three young ladies. Then he ducks out and flies into the night as Iron Man under the cover of a fireworks display. This harkens back to the old comic where Tony Stark was conflicted about getting close to people and having the device in his chest keeping his heart alive. He let the public think he was having wild parties but really he was going on Iron Man missions.
Really, down deep, he was lonely. His work as Iron Man was his only purpose in life. This comes out in the movie where he tells Potts that she is the only person he has in his life. This is an important angle to explore in future movies.
They need to be careful about the adult theme with the children
watching the movie. The more adult stuff was implied in the comics but never obvious. They need to stick to that in future movies.
